Representative Ron Reynolds has distinguished himself as a steadfast public servant and influential leader in Texas politics since assuming office for House District 27 on January 10, 2011. Now in his seventh term, he made history as the first African American elected to the Texas House from Fort Bend County since Reconstruction. His service has been widely lauded, earning honors such as the “2021 Legislator of the Year” from Fort Bend United and The Young & the Politics, “Freshman Legislator of the Year” by his peers, and “Public Servant of the Year” by the Houston Minority Contractors Association.
Reynolds’ legislative experience includes serving as House Minority Whip during the 83rd and 84th Legislative Sessions. He currently holds several key leadership roles, including Chair of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, Chair of the Texas HBCU Caucus, and Vice Chair of the Texas Energy & Climate Caucus. He is also the founder and former Chair of the Texas House Progressive Caucus.
